This is my first post in this (personal) blog. If you are
looking for tech. stuff or "official" side of me, please visit
http://blogs.sun.com/sundararajan

On 29 Dec 2007, batchmates of 1989-1993 batch B.E students from MSEC college met @ MGM beach resort. It was fun to meet old friends (few after 10 years or so!). About 59 folks promised to attend the reunion, but 45 folks actually turned -- not bad -- better than our electoral promises ;-)

Random tidbits/gossips from the reunion:

Kudos to Dakshinamoorthy alias brisk, Rajesh alias Thalapathi ("cashier") and Ramaswamy alias Kabali for making reunion arrangements and making it successful. Oru periya Oh pOduvOm!.

Srinivasan ("baccha") and Sivakumar ("Poos") visited from the middle east just to attend the reunion. Marubadium oru Oh pOduvOm!

We played the following visuals. You need Java plugin to view these. Hey, I work for Sun :-)

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/asunraj/73971

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/asunraj/73965

We played the above two on big screen. For good effect, play "saroja sAmAn nikkAlo" and "tippu tippu tippu kumaru" songs in the background respectively. I removed the audio to reduce download time.

Thanks to A. Subramanian for the nice video from the US. We played it on big screen.

C. Balaji ("pluto man") brought a big cake and mixture! He runs a bakery shop. He told Hariharan ("biscuit chittapa") about his business, but told him to visit his home and not the shop ;-)

There were games for the kids and the grown ups. The "bachelors" (the ones who didn't come with the family) played an interesting game :-) You may want to wait for more pictures from Ramaswamy. Hope you have seen the ones he sent already.

One of the Vijay TV "kalakkapovadu yaru" champions performed mimicry. It was nice except for the loud voice at times. Issue with the amplifier/speaker system? "Operator" Alagarsamy would have helped there :-) Also, I think we missed our "yezzar" to cheer up the performer :-)

There was a photo session. Ramesh ("boochi") said "yevalavu neram than moocha izhuthu nikkiradu? sikkiram yedunkka photova". Later after seeing the photo, he said "hmm.. thoppai theriyududa" :-) :-).

Many felt Selvakani ("pakkiri") changed a lot in appearance. At least 2 guys asked me "yeruda adu?"

It was nice to see Selvakani ("pakkiri") and Shyam Sundar ("ranpa") baby sitting their little ones :-)

T. Balamurugan ("lustivi alias SSR") did sing few lines. He works for the tsunami rehabilitation project.

M. Selvaraju ("doubt raj") is teaching. May his doubts help the students!

Kumaravel becomes "S R Vel" now. But, we can still call him with his "real" name :-)

K. Baskar ("kelads") appeared to be young - because of dye may be? :-) He is planning to do PhD. Wow! That is the second PhD interest I am hearing. T. Srikkanth is the other one who has completed PhD. Anyone else? My personal Oh to you.

Rajasekar ("nila") recalled his first year home sick days.

Wives were asked to tell the "real" name of their husbands :-) Almost all of them did! May be the presentation earlier helped them.

Abdul Kadher G ("akkar") mentioned about doing a bit more useful than just meeting, eating and playing. He wants to have discussions on professional aspect too. Others too expressed similar thoughts. I think we may start by creating LinkedIn records (if not there already) and linking among ourselves.

Ramesh Kumar ("topper") quietly discussed about open source, cygwin, ubuntu, MPlayer etc. You know why he was topper.

As usual, we discussed about next reunion - Chennai or Coimbatore? once in 2 years or 3 years? etc. As usual, I don't think any specific decision was reached :-) I think we will fire fight and decide later - to have it in Chennai :-)?.
